Where I am

I am an American who lived in Eindhoven, the Netherlands for almost 7 years. Before I lived there, I had a very vague sense of where The Netherlands was- just that it was in Europe. The Netherlands is wedged between the North Sea, Germany, and Belgium, mostly below sea level. The Dutch are crafty with dams and canals, creating a country out of swampland. It is the most densely populated country in Europe, and yet contains acres of farmland, windmills, tulips, and cows. About the same size as the US state of Maryland, some people refer to the entire country as "Holland" when in fact that is really only the bit on the west coast, containing Amsterdam, the Hague, and Rotterdam. What I liked about living there is the plethora of flowers available (for very cheap!), country living (we lived in a townhouse-type structure, on the edge of a village, next to horse fields), biking (safely!) everywhere, and the low cost of trampolines (I have an active toddler). What I found most challenging is the food (I thought I was going to live in Europe, the land of gastronomical greatness!), the weather (rain rain go away), and being so far from family.
Update: We have moved back state-side! We're in the Rochester, NY area near family. Mixed emotions about moving but we feel blessed to have had the opportunity to experience life in Europe.

Who I am

I love travel, science, baking, cooking, eating, art, acting, theater, reading, writing, math, making Halloween costumes, deadlines, climbing trees, trying new foods, being thrifty, a good debate, editing, originality, and most of all my family and God.
I dislike spiders(indoors), doing dishes, awkward social situations, getting gas for the car, uncomfortable shoes, and figuring out what to wear.
